Notre Dame prepares to start this season with a home opener against South Florida on Sept. 3. Coach Brian Kelly will be starting quarterback Dayne Crist, returning after a season ending knee injury last season, with a very talented Tommy Rees backing up. Star receiver Michael Floyd was reinstated by the university over the summer after his DUI arrest left his season, and career, in doubt. The Irish defense returns stronger than it has been since Lou Holtz was coach.
This team is prepared for a strong run, and could be surprising contenders for the national title if the defense holds up. The offense will be solid if Floyd stays out of trouble off the field, and Crist can avoid another injury.
Look for this Irish team to win at least 10 games, make a BCS Bowl game, and solidify the new image that Brian Kelly has brought to this program.
